King of Yore

    Cara Cristina/Sally,
I’ve just come across your website, per puro caso, as I was searching for the Simply Knitting site. I am in a clinic in Rome where my husband was operated on today, nothing serious, and wanted to see if there were any additions to the SK site. I too have a subscription with SK and have to wait a long time each month for it to arrive. In fact, issue 62 arrived last Thursday, 7 January, when it was released in the UK in November!
Anyway, complimenti for your Alan Dart mice, I have many of his patterns but have never gotten around to making any of them. Where do you buy your wool?
Have to leave now but next week, hopefully, when I am at home again, I will log on to your site again and have a look at all your wonderful makes.
    Auguroni di nuovi,

Yours, Lesley (I live in Cerveteri, just outside Rome)

  4. Hi Lesley,
how lovely of you to stop here to write such a nice comment – I truly appreciate it to bits! :o)) Grazie mille !
I do love Alan Dart’s patterns and I subscribed to SK just because of him publishing his creations there.
You really must give him a chance and try to knit one of his mice, they’re so well explained and easy to follow that the final result is always very satisfying and amusing!
    E’ divertente!
I can understand perfectly your frustration about waiting such a long time for your copy of SK, it’s just the same for me here in Tuscany (I live near Pisa). It always takes ages for my copy to arrive – and I even had to e-mail the magazine a request for a replacement of issue 61 as it never reached our post box! ;o(
I usually buy my wool at a shop not far from our home, in a small village on the way to Pisa. It’s a shop selling knitting-machines and they also have a good variety of lovely yarns to choose from, I like the lady in the shop and she alsways makes me a sconto! ;o))
Are you on the Ravelry site? I love it! Bellissimo!
So many talented knitters working on such incredibly creative projects – fantastico! My nickname there is MiaSally.
Thank you so much for your visit here on my blog, I do hope to hear from you again. Scrivimi ancora! ;o)
As you live in Italy I think you can read Italian, anyway my Ravelry’s account is only in English.
Auguri for your husband recovery, and please feel free to come again anytime, I’ll be happy to hear from you again.
    Arrivederci a presto!
    Cristina

Dear Cristina (also my daughter’s name!),

Back at home again and getting into the swing of things. I really will have to try to do one of Alan Dart’s patterns but as I am looking after by baby granddaughter (she’s one in February), I don’t have a lot of time. I asked you about where you buy your wool because I always have difficulty in working out the right size (ply). I have loads of patterns in English but when they talk about chunky and fingering, I’m lost! I too have a local wool shop, where they sell Grignasco and Mondial, and they are very nice – anzi, the person who seems to know more about wool than any of them is a very clever young man!
Yes, I did join Ravelry but must admit that I never access it. I should do but, again, I really don’t have as much time as I would like. Plus, I have about three projects on the go, although I did manage, while in hospital last week, to knit the fingerless mitts that were in the last SK and they worked out very well.
Yes, I do understand Italian and can write as well, although I still make a lot of mistakes. Still, it’s fun.
Okay, have to go, babe calls. I’ll be in touch when I can.

    Bye for now,

    Lesley

  6. Ciao Lesley,
I’m so happy to hear from you again! :o)
I’m sure she’s lovely and you must be very proud of her! ;o)

Raverly is a fantastic place and I’m sure you’ll love it, I do hope you’ll get some time to access it and to have a look to the wonderful projects shared there, bellssimi!

I love mittens, I’m plannig to make a pair for me soon.
What are you working at now?
I’m knitting a big Alan Dart angel for my mom, it’s a secret gift per il suo compleanno, and then I hope to start my purple lace shawl, you can find the project on my Ravelry page.

    Bye,
    Cristina
